Mass murder using engine exhaust gas in vans specifically designed for this purpose was an infamous and particularly cruel murder method used during the Holocaust, the killing of the physically and mentally disabled, Sinti and Roma and for other victims of the Nazis. The gas vans have been under researched and many facts on their origin, development and usage have so far remained unknown or contentious.
