Projektbeschreibung:
The aim of the project is to give the young people an opportunity to critically analyse the historical events and distinct interpretation of them in different countries. Students will debating on the role of historical education in the process of creating the national identity. We will emphasise especially the exemplification of the processes of rising and strengthening of the political, cultural and ethnical self-identification of nations. On the chosen examples we will try to discuss the influence of national minorities on the existence and functioning of national states. .. ..We offer very interesting program which contains: ..Specialist sightseeing of the Commemoration Place Auschwitz-Birkenau.· „Polish and German memory about the Second World War” – lecture and discussion, professor Krzysztof Ruchniewicz (Wroclaw University)..· Taking part in the state ceremonies commemorating the Polish Independence Day in Oswiecim...· „11th of November 1918 – 11th of November 2007” – lecture and discussion on the meaning of memory and different forms of commemorating of events such as the end of the I World War., PhD Marcin Szydzisz (Wroclaw University)..· Meeting with the representatives of the Roma Association in Poland (Joanna Talewicz-Kwiatkowska )..· Meeting with the representatives of the Jewish Centre (Tomasz Kuncewicz-Director)...· Sightseeing of the town of Oswiecim guided by the Oswiecim’s secondary school students and MDSM volunteers. Presentation of Oswiecim as the town with many ages of history and tradition, but marked with the stigma of „Auschwitz”. ..· “The Haus on the border”- presentation of the film ..· Meeting with the “eyewitness of history” in mixed groups (lecture and discussion) Marian Turski and Wolfgang Templin ..· Evening of “the three cultures”..· “Changes and processes in German and Polish society in the context of the German and Polish relations” – lecture and discussion professor Norbert Kapferer (Free University Berlin, Wroclaw University). ..· Trip to Kraków ..· „The mission of science” in the globalising world – meeting and lecture at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków (prof.
